Guidance Curriculum
A school guidance curriculum should be designed to meet all student's
academic, social/personal and career needs. The ASCA gives very
specific concepts that should be addressed in all comprehensive school
counseling programs. All programs should address school guidance
curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, and system
support. Standard A.3a. of the ASCA states that school counselors should
"provide students with a comprehensive school counseling program that
parallels the ASCA National Model with emphasis on working jointly with
all students to develop personal/social, academic and career goals"
(ASCA, 2012). All of these standards work together to provide an outline
for counselors when creating a comprehensive school guidance
program
